Fusion 8.2.1 & 9 have a new Lua and Python based GUI building system called the fu.UIManager library. This library is used whenever you need to create your own custom graphical user interface in a Fusion based Lua or Python script.

Getting more scripting documentation is something I've hoped would happen for so long. Yay! :cheer:

Hi. This thread will be the starting point for a new WSL tutorial series of posts that will hopefully get you started creating, editing, and releasing your own custom Fusion Macros. :cheer:

A macro is a plain text document that has the .setting file extension. It is built with the same general syntax as a Fusion .comp document but is cut down to just the elements of a few nodes and avoids the typical header data used in a full Fusion composite for things like the Fusion timeline and viewer...

Are the MacroLUTs still working in v16? I just tried and failed on even the simplest BC node-turned Macro.

Encouraged by the tutorial above, I tried the one from KartaVR shown above but get the same error message. Is it me, or did something change?

Hi All!

I'm starting to explore writing fuses for fusion 16 (and I guess resolve) using the new dctl(?) kernel support, and I'm told this might be a good place for it?

I was wondering if anyone else is doing this already?

I've made a bit of progress based on the example fuses, and thought maybe we could start documenting our findings.

Please let me know if I'm re-inventing the wheel here before I spend too much time!

The DCTL documentation doesn't really cover the rest of the Fuse architecture. At the moment, VFXPedia is still the only organized documentation of the Fuse API (minus DCTL, obviously, and many parts are out of date). The info on FuRegisterClass, which is still accurate to the best of my knowledge, is here:

Hi,

I want to create a saver/loader from a selection in python. (I know its something that as already been done. But I want to do it myself.)
In the tool I need to create new control on my saver and loader. Is there a way to add new control directly from python?

Read the existing User Controls into a dictionary, then insert the new one, and spit the result back out. But what I did above was to just insert directly into the top of the string segment, skipping the work of parsing it out into actual Lua. It's probably too brittle as a result.

I can do this in Lua easy but I can't seem to do it with Python. My dict just returns empty :(

Hello dear people that try to suck less.

I'm looking to create a node in reactor that does pixelsorting, has an input mask, a way to feed it specific colours to sort via secondary image input.
Also, sliders and toggles 4 values and settings.

I am a noob though, and I am in dire need of assistance. Say I have the code written in OpenCV how would I go about creating an actual GUI element and set up the exchange of data ?

I have been coding in Python for 3 days and I've had Resolve for a little longer.

I wrote the code below - well, to be honest it's a Frankenstein from code found all over the net and on WSL. It's working really great but I can't get the keyframes to work. The idea is to have the text at , then have the text appear at frame X and disappear at frame Y by resetting the text to .

However, in Fusion, it's only showing the last assignment to StyledText I make - so it's basically ignoring the...

hello guys,

Just share a tool that i made for exchange tools between compers. I do not reinvent the wheel...
But it was mainly to counter the fact of not being able to launch a bins servers.

This script encode data on JSON, and JSON are stored in a repo folder. The only things to do is to set your repo folder on server.

How it work :
- Select tool, put a name, put a description then hit 'publish'.
- Double clic on tool, it pasted on your comp.

Hey miaz3 , I really like this ToolXChange script, and I think it deserves some improvements. This is a changelog (at least how I see it):
NB! The script may overwrite your existing json files, adding a sequential number (ID) to the data, so just in case, do a backup of the json files before using the new version for the first time.

Hi all,

I'm playing about with Lua scripting in Fusion, but is there any way to clear the console of all commands/functions that have already been run?

Say if I have a script with a function and it runs and completes. If I delete that function and run it again, the script will run and complete as it should again (as it thinks the function has already been run before, so it knows what it should do)

I just have to restart Fusion to check things work correctly at the moment.

Any quicker way...

That just clears the feedback, not the environment. The only way I know of is to assign nil to anything you want to destroy.

Added in 1 minute 46 seconds:
If your function is in a lua script file, it should be local to the execution of that script, though. The only reason something should persist is if you have added it to the global environment somehow, like inserting into the bmd table.

Is it possible to somehow add your files to the power bins using a script (python, lua)?

AFAIK, you cannot traverse to the power bins folder. You can only access the root folder in the media pool and then traverse the subfolders, but the power bins are inaccessible from the mediapool object.
