Default Preferences

The choices made here are used to determine Fusion's behavior when new tools are added to the flow, and when controls are animated.

Default Animate

The Default Animate preferences can be used to change the type of modifier attached to a control when the Animate option is selected from its context menu. The default option is Nothing, which tells Fusion to animate controls using the internal defaults.

Fusion's internal default uses a Bezier spline to animate numeric controls, and a path modifier for positional controls.

Number With and Point With

drop-down lists are used to select a different modifier to use as the default. For example, change the default type used to animate positions by setting the Point With control to XY Path.

Choices shown in this menu come from installed modifiers, which are valid for that type of control. These include third-party plugin modifiers like those in the KroKroDove plugins, as well as native modifiers installed with Fusion.

Auto Tools

Defines which tools Fusion will add automagically for the most common operations like Background tools to provide a valid canvas for other tools and Merge operations to combine imagery.

Background

When set to none Fusion will use it's internal defaults when adding Backgrounds, which is a standard Background tool. You can choose from a wide variety of available tools including 2D and 3D tools to tailor your pipeline to your needs.

Merge

When set to none Fusion will use it's internal defaults when connecting the outputs of two tools or dragging multiple Loaders on the flow area, which is a standard Merge. Other valid options for this are Anaglyph, Channel Booleans and Dissolve.

Use merge only when connecting outputs directly

When this option is active Fusion will not create any Merges when you drag multiple clips from explorer onto the flow area.

Global Range

These controls define the default Global Start and End frame used when creating new compositions.

Time Code

Use this option to determine if new compositions will default to showing SMPTE Time Code or frames to represent current time (Feet + Frames).
