The EDL format specification has limitations for a clip name. If you look at an entry in the EDL you will see the reel name, and the in and out points, as well as the in and out points for the overall timeline. This is often limited to 8 characters, and can be limited to the characters used.

In the above example the file name is stored as a clip reference in a comment field, and fusion places that information into the comment tab of each loader.

Fusion's EDL support was designed specifically for the import from our hardware partner at the time, the DPS Reality which has since been end of lined. We can not write for every application that supports EDL to the flavour that they may use in the comment field.

It may be possible for users to write a script based on the application used to generate the EDL to load the comment info for each loader, and set the appropriate data for the file name.
