Timeline Introduction
The Timeline Editor is a powerful tool for adjusting the timing of elements in a project. This interface makes it easy to trim and extend clips, to adjust the timing of one spline, or to trim the valid region of a tool.
Timeline View
The Timeline View is the dominant part of the Timeline Interface. Bars represent the time range of each tool. The horizontal axis labels in this view represent time and are usually labelled with frame numbers. The timeline bars themselves are color-coded with the same color system as the tool tiles in the flow.
Tool Menu
The Tool Tree is a hierarchical view of the flow. It is displayed on the left side of the screen. Each tool is displayed by name in this Explorer-like interface tree.
Tools with effect masks or animation splines can be opened further, revealing a submenu for each spline animation, modifier and mask attached to that tool.
Current Time Indicator
The Current Time Indicator is a vertical yellow bar that runs through the timeline view to indicate the position of the current frame or time.
The current frame of the project can be changed by click-dragging this bar left or right. As current time is changed, the frame number is displayed to the right of the toolbars to assist with precise positioning.
Hold down Ctrl+Alt and click in the timeline view to jump the current time indicator to the mouse pointer position.
Timeline Toolbar
The Timeline Toolbar sits above the timeline view, providing access to various timeline filters, scaling modes and the spreadsheet.
Spreadsheet
The Spreadsheet view offers an alternate means of visualizing time in a project. The spreadsheet display is much like a financial spreadsheet, showing the numeric values of the selected tools, including trimming and keyframes.
