It would be really nice if Fusion 9 and Resolve 15's Fusion page supported adding Alembic .abc files to the comp by dragging them from the desktop folder into the Flow area. Right now this drag and drop action doesn't automatically add a new AlembicMesh3D node.

By comparison, an FBXMesh3D node is added automatically to the Flow area when FBX and OBJ nodes are dragged into the view.

Additionally, an added level of polish would be if dragging AlembicMesh3D and FBXMesh3D nodes from the desktop into a composite actually triggered the scene import dialog at the same time to replicate the functionality provided by the "File > Import > ABC Scene..." and "File > Import > FBX Scene..." menu items. Possibly a modifier key could allow you to either show the import scene dialog, or suppress them.

Yeah, one of the QoL things you don't get bothered enough by to write up but when you see someone else mention it, you think, "yeah, why doesn't it do that?"

And even much, much, muuuuuuch better would be the possibility to drive that import via Script...:-)
comp:ImportMesh3D({[some | import | flags | as | in | the | dialogue]})

@SirEdric. Is wishing for all of the above options a valid request then? :)

If this more controllable ABC/FBX importing function could be done as an Action based implementation then it's usage could be captured and recorded using the Action Listener.lua script. I think it would be an extra handy feature request to add, as well. Then we could even define Config:/ .fu based Events to add our own callback hooks, too.
