[submission] Tonemapping Tools

#1

Post by richnosworthy » Mon May 28, 2018 2:30 pm

Hi,

I'm submitting on behalf of someone elses tools again (last week was Exponential glow). This time wondered if we could add Martin Geupel's Tonemapping Tools.

http://www.racoon-artworks.de/?p=597

I emailed Martin about submitting, unfortunately he's too busy to look into submitting it but he said he was happy if I could submit them on his behalf. His only ask was that we included his website in the info http://www.racoon-artworks.de/ and if possible to add an optional donation link like some other tools have.

These are really useful tools though, i use the corona highlight compression a lot (its a expression based on what corona renderer uses for its tonemapping). And its great if you have a floating point linear render and you want to pull back the highlights/tonemap it into a more pleasing range . But also works great for any image with hot highlights.

As its 3 tools, not sure whether they'd be submitted as one or whether they need to be individually submitted.

Again, i'm not a coder so can't do the conversion myself, but if it was possible would someone be able to convert to the necessary format?

Thanks

You really don't need any coding experience to create Atoms. In fact, with Atomizer (comes with Reactor) it doesn't even take any manual editing at all, short of putting certain files in a specific location.

For in-depth information about Atoms, the Atom Packages Documentation is up to date, and there is also the separate (and shorter) Atomizer documentation.

Since Reactor is a community project, I would like to encourage you to try and create your first atom out of this. The more people are familiar with the process, the better. At the same time Reactor gets valuable feedback that we can use to continue to improve it.

Been through the atomizer docs and i believe this is all correctly formatted for submission now. I'm deploying all 3 tools within this one package. Is that ok?

Description

3 tools for tonemapping images in fusion. Works nicely with floating point 3D rendered images. These macros assume linear space so if you are not using linear, de-gamma them first

Very cool! Well done! :cheer:

If I may make one suggestion, if you don't mmm Ind, and that's putting the macros in Macros/Color/RA_TonemappingTools - so the path matches the category?

Deploying the 3 tools in one package is perfect. :)

Thank you!

Great thanks, yes will update the atom, give me 20mins! I might just change to Macros/Color to save having to go through too many menus.

No need to create another topic (merged it in here), the forum will make clear what is and isn't read... ;)

Also if you could please read the PM I sent you?

I'll get to the submission tomorrow, no rush! :)

Thanks @richnosworthy - all looks good, with two small issues to fix.

The donation amount lacks a currency indicator (USD, CAD, EUR,...) and the actual donation link doesn't work:

Nearly there :)

Hi Rich.

The easiest way to create a PayPal payment link for an atom is to use the http://www.paypal.me technique for creating the URL.

This would result in a URL like http://www.paypal.me/MartinsPayPalNameHere

Hi again,

Martin replied saying that he didn't actually want to charge for it, so in which case i've removed the donation from this.

Code: Select all
