Append a numeral when trying to give a node a name that already exists
Occasionally I try to give a node a name that I've already used in my comp. If I'm going fast enough, I don't notice that Fusion refuses the name and preserves the old one. I would like to see an option to have Fusion append a numeral to the new name, like it does with a copy-paste operation.

Re: Append a numeral when trying to give a node a name that already exists
I second this.
Even better would be to keep the given name and a unique id for each node type in separate name spaces so you can name every node exactly the same if you want and it won't matter. Then one could reference by name.id or nodetype.id to target a specific node or iterate through all nodes with the same given name without the need for regex, wildcards, swap variables, etc.
In Unreal Engine, when you type in a name for a variable that is already in use a red exclamation will pop up next to the cursor and you're forced to correct it before it can be committed.

Indeed. At the least pop a notification that the name already exists, but I think automatically making a unique name makes the most sense.

Renamer Plus tool in Reactor does the thing (and a couple more)

Renamer Plus is pretty sweet - @Midgardsormr, would you say your wish is granted?
