[KAK] - How does KAK work?
Re: [KAK] - How does KAK work?
Nice one PvH! You've included so many little keying tricks into that tool. Do you often find KAK to be able to pull an entire key all by it self ? Or (for badly shot shots) do you find the need to break the key down to various screen elements, like different keyers for hair and body etc etc.
My ways of keying is very similar to this, but its just laid out modular instead, but its been a while since I've done a regular keying job.

It depends. Pretty often, yes, and I would say moreso than with other keyers. Although I did put those external inputs there for a reason. Some shoots are just insane.
I would like to get even closer, though, it's what currently drives most new features. Interestingly I first conceived KAK as a modular solution (and I might still do a spinoff that goes in that direction...), just like the good old days of AdvantEdge, but then found that what I really wanted was one tool that allowed me to do all sorts of different keys without having to rebuild the setup every single time.
Sometimes the most difficult part of it, funnily enough, is finding good examples. People aren't too keen to share original shoots, especially not if they are badly done

I'm still not done with it and have more ideas. But I'm going to give it a little rest now, and let this version sink in.
That said, if you have some tricks that you think could make KAK even better and would like to share, just PM me

Thanks Pieter.
These videos really helped me wrap my head around all the KAK controls. You've done a great job with this and eyeon should be really happy with the work you have done on KAK.
I'm also glad that it still runs on 6.4, although I realize it will soon have to embrace 7 and move on.
