Description of the bug: Text3D in combination with Bender3D crashes Fusion right away

Severity (Major)

Steps to reproduce: Add a Text3D, put in some Text. Add Bender3D and view it. Touch the Amount-Slider. Bang!

Confirmed also in Windows 7.

Possibly related: Displace3D and ReplaceNormals do the same thing. As does CustomVertex if you try to enter an expression in at least the Position X field (probably all the others, but I only tested the one).

All of those tools recalculate normals. Only happens with Text3D?

Also crashes Fusion Studio 9.0.1 build 3 on Mac OS Sierra 10.12.6 (16G29)

As far as I tested. Tried it with Shape3D and ImagePlane3D, and neither of those crashed.

Funny enough....as soon as you add a tiny little bit of extrusion to the Text3D, Bender does *not* crash anymore....

What values ? ^^
Value 0.01 crash fusion, but less quickly than the value 1 :?

Works fine for me down to 0.0001.

You probably have to multiply the values by 1/16th of a fluent ounce then.

It's happening for me as well MBP Sierra 10.12.6. The Extrusion solution worked great though. This site is awesome for a new guy who is finding nodes amazing but a bit overwhelming!

This crash is still there (without extrusion)

Detail :
- Create a Text3D, fill with some text,
- Add a Bender3D,
- View Bender3D node,
- Change the Bender3D's amount field.
Fusion closes instantly.

Note : with extrusion in the Text3D node, it doesn't crash (as mentioned in previous posts)

9.0.2 build 15 - Dec 20 2017, 01:39:29 (Not studio)

OS and version:
MacOS Sierra 10.12.6 (64bit)

Graphic Card (if needed):

Bender isn't the only one, pretty much any tools reading the geometry of an "unextruded" text3d will crash fusion 9
(for example displace3D, triangulate3d, custom vertex3d, etc.. or any krokodove 3d tools)
the good news is that:
  • It's fixed in Fu 16
  • we know a workaround

Too bad bug fixes aren't rolled back into previous versions, but hey, we're one UI away from the future ;)
