Thunderbolt based monitor USB hubs have been known to cause Fusion license checkout issues on MacOS systems
Do you happen to remember where you came by this information? This is the first time I've heard it.

I have an LG Ultrawide 34-inch Thunderbolt 2 monitor with a built-in 2-port USB hub. It causes headaches with Fusion License dongles and makes it look like the dongle isn't connected there. If you look in some of the earlier Fusion beta threads on the BMD forum I did a bug report about that issue ages ago.

we may have the exact same monitor however my fusion dongle was always - always- for about 6 years now, always plugged directly into a usb port at the back of the computer tower.
always. never failed me.
except christmas eve last year, it just suddenly decided not to work.

I still have the feeling that it's most likely your USB port, since - if I recall correctly - the dongle does work on a different computer. But since you've been stuck with this for so long, I'm afraid to give you any more suggestions.

I just encounter this problem. I couldn't get my system to see the dongle( the dongle light was off, and none of the usb ports saw it) until I downloaded the new drivers here:
https://sentinelcustomer.gemalto.com/se ... =all&l=all

Now my system recognizes he dongle driver but Fusion still doesn't see the dongle.

maybe this will fix your dongle.

if it is my usb port, it runs everything else i plug into it- except the fusion dongle.
and it just failing on the next day without any changes to the computer is unlikely.

Found a hacky workaround on my Mac

Au, I'm kicking myself for not asking this ages ago, but do you happen to have a Synology NAS? The CloudStation service interferes with Fusion's licensing.
As mentioned above, I had the same thing happen to me on my MacOS desktop the past few weeks. It still works fine on my laptop. Interestingly BM support said that some 3rd party apps might be interfering with the licensing and mentioned Synology. My question is: Why does it not affect my Resolve Studio dongle? Why would Resolve and Fusion have different licensing procedures? What I find so frustrating is that other than them saying that and simply passing the buck, there is very little that I can do to check the processes running under the hood when I start Fusion up. Can anyone recommend a tool that would do that? On a Mac? Thanks.
Just an update to at least finding a workaround. When I boot my Mac in Safe Mode, Fusion and Resolve both start beautifully, but that's because Safe Mode disables all third-party peripherals and startup items. So - as we suspect - the culprit is most probably some third-party issue. Obviously I don't want to boot in safe mode since I need some of the third-party stuff, so I simply set Fusion to start up automatically when I switch my computer on. That way it sort of beats the crowd of competing start-up items and other apps. This strategy works 9 out of 10 times which is ok as workaround. Even if I don't immediately need Fusion and quit it, I can still start it later - once it's been up and running... it's like whatever it is that was preventing Fusion from starting has been beaten to the post by Fusion's early start and chooses some other port or whatever.

Hi @caspardavidfriedrich.

Would you be willing to post a list of the contents of your macOS Launch Agents and Launch Daemons folder? That would probably clarify the source of your issues.

Running this in the terminal window will print out a list of the .plist files in your LaunchDaemons and LaunchAgents folder the root library folder level, and for the LaunchAgent files in your home folder's library folder level:
Code: [Select all] [Expand/Collapse] [Download] (ListAgentsAndDaemons.command)
  1.
  2. # List the LaunchDaemons and LaunchAgents
  3. ls -la /Library/LaunchDaemons
  4. ls -la /Library/LaunchAgents
  5. ls -la $HOME/Library/LaunchAgents
  6.
Then Copy/pasting the result from the terminal into a pair of WSL Forum BBcode tags like this would be the final step likey track down the source gremlin causing you headaches:

[code]Your LaunchAgents here[/code]

This evening I'll try installing the parent apps/drivers for most of the things in your launch agents/launch daemons list and see if I can get a similar conflict to occur on my macOS system. I'll keep you posted. :)
