[Update] Rename Plus Tool

#1

Post by Movalex » Wed Mar 06, 2019 4:52 pm

Hi! Here's my implementation of a Rename tool (also added merge request to the Reactor repo)
Use this script to better rename tools in your flow.
new features are marked with [+] :

  • Rename Underlay only. No tools in the current Underlay will be prompted to rename [+]

  • Apply existing name to the tool. Name will be incremented [+]

  • Start tool's name with a number. Name will be prepended with "_" [+]

  • Cancel renaming sequence on multiple tools with Cancel button [+]

  • configured to F2 shortcut

And submitted! :cheer:

Thank you for also doing a GitLab merge request. That makes my job so much easier. :)

Works beautifully, too!

Is there any way to check if Fusion is in a multi-monitor state or has some windows detached?
I added `Open at cursor position` feature to this script and find it handy, but probably this feature is only needed if Fusion is actually used on more than one monitor.

Hi!
There's an update for Rename+ script, which prevents multiple UI to open.
It also uses Fusion window dimensions to correctly show UI on mouse position if started on the screen edge (you will need to "Grab program layout" in Layout preferences once).
Enjoy!

Hi @Movalex.

I love how you used local main_win = ui:FindWindow("renameplus") in the script to check for the existing window. Very classy! Great work there — you've just gone deeper into uncharted (and undocumented) UI manager coding territories! :buttrock:

Thanks! But I would never go that deep without @PeterLoveday's help!

Hey, guys, there's an issue with Renamer Plus I think is critical for Fusion 16 experience.
This is about Loader/Saver renaming.
By default a Loader goes with a ':' and a file name part.
When the file name is huge, Fusion 16 hides some viewer tools.
I was going to ask a question, but suddenly I realized we can add TOOLB_NameSet = true to a rename part to get rid of that file name.

Jeez, that's page 33 of the scripting guide, and I thought I've read it all :{
Now the Loaders will be renamed correctly. Here's an updated script version.

Good catch!

For the merge request, I think you forgot to update the atom version number?
