I am on DR Studio 16 updated the other day.
Hi Oro.

DR Studio v16.1.1, which was released the other day, had some unexpected internal changes that required Reactor to be re-written so it would function as intended. The revised Reactor v3.14 files are posted on the Reactor GitLab repository site as of 25 minutes ago, and listed below is a copy of the Reactor v3.141 installer script that should hopefully solve your issues. :)

Excuse the complete noob question, but I'm trying to install Reactor in Fusion Studio 16.2 Build 22 on OSX 10.15.4 and the installer stalls out on step 2. I went and create a config file folder in the location and downloaded the reactor.fu file to it hoping it would resolve the issue and no matter what I do, it hangs. Any help would be appreciated.

Here's what it says in the console:

Code: Select all

Reactor won’t work on f16.2 Mac.
It’s a known issue. BMD it’s aware of it and the should be working on it afaik.
Dropping a line to BMD and report the bug is a good thing!

Cheers!

Yup, bug reports to Blackmagic Design are always a good idea. Send them to support@blackmagicdesign.com.

@Gamma_Chad - welcome to WSL!

Please have a quick read of viewtopic.php?p=2250#p2250

That way I won't have to edit your posts when you post some code output... ;)

Thanks!

Hello,

New here - just over from AE and enjoying node life! Much better.

I wanted to second that I too am having issues installing Reactor into Fusion 16.2 on Mac OS Catalina.

I noticed some talk of how a manual install is more complicated, which is why the automated installer is preferred... given that it is not working (sent a note to BMD btw), I was wondering if directions to install manually are available somewhere, or if this is a deeper issue than just the installer?

Most kindly,
JJ

@ozzyofla Reactor installs fine for me on Catalina.

A few things to try:
In system preferences > Security & Privacy > Privacy Tab > Accessibility
Make sure Fusion is checked there. If it doesn't already appear in the list, then drag the .app file into it or click the + button and find it.
You may need to do the same under "Full Disk Access" category.

You may also want to disable the Firewall temporarily to see if that helps. If so then you need to add a rule.

If it still won't install after that (it should), then maybe try temporarily disabling system integrity protection?

Hi, IM.

It seems like this is a "known issue"... so can you confirm Reactor 3 on Fusion 16.2? When you say drag the app, what are you referring to exactly? The installation instructions are for running a script through the console. I, unfortunately, don't know of another way to install. If you do, please let me know.

Security is set to allow any app to be installed and firewall is not enabled on this machine.

Very best,
JJ

it is a known issue. Reactor on F16.2 won't work. I'm on Mojave and it doesn't.
Luckily I have F9 installed and I can use Reactor there! :)

The fusion App. Since Mojave there have been significant security upgrades to macOS to stupid proof it from those who are click happy. Security overrides are more granular. Not just per application but down to the category of system level services the application wants access to. For this reason Fusion needs disk access and accessibility to be enabled before the app (Fusion) can run scripts that need OS access. Usually the security override will show when it is first attempted. If not then you may to manually do this. Following the instructions I previously wrote, go to System Preference from the Apple menu -> security and privacy -> prIvacy, and check those categories to see if Fusion is listed and checked.

I have all of that done, yet Reactor works like charm on f9, f16, f16.1.2, but not on f16.2

I think Mr Machine is right :)

Disabling system integrity protection seems to help?

Ha. The version number is Pi.
I just double-checked my reactor version (I knew I had version 3 but I did do a clean install recently).
