IMPORTANT UPDATE! May 12 13, 2026

Tomorrow Today Last Wednesday, on the 13th of May, the manual Patrons group (the one that gives you your green username AND access to dedicated Patrons spaces on WSL) will be has been DELETED.

This means that your access to those spaces will be has been revoked until you connect your Patreon account to WSL using the link below, which will give you access to the NEW, future-proof Patrons+++ group.

With the imminent release of ZEPPO BETA 2 - tentatively planned for released Friday today yesterday (!!) - I wouldn't dawdle... with Beta 2 (i.e. all my late nights in the past month), Zeppo has become something truly special, battle-tested and multi-user hardened in an actual production.

Yes, there will be a Reactor release eventually, and no, it won't have all the bells and whistles - those are for Patrons, because they are the ones keeping WSL afloat, which is still only barely these days...

I'd better get back to prepping that done did release then!

Thank you,

Pieter

Reactor lua "token" error blocking start

#1

Unread post by JPDoc »

This morning I loaded fuSudio 21beta and tried to update Reactor on a win 11 system that had been running fine. Reactor didn't start and I got a console error that said -

errorMessageApr21_26.webp
errorMessageApr21_26.webp (9.18 KiB) Viewed 271 times
errorMessageApr21_26.webp
errorMessageApr21_26.webp (9.18 KiB) Viewed 271 times

I opened the lua file in question and it looks like this -

errorMessageApr21_26b.webp

I had only just installed fus21 yesterday, so I assumed it was something to do with that installation. I then tried fus20, 19 and 18 and the same error came up in all of them when I tried to update reactor. So I thought it must be something to do with the fus21 beta install.

I then installed fus21 beta on two other win systems, one win10 and one win11. Much to my surprise the installation went fine and afterwards reactor opened as normal.

So I'm a bit mystified. I don't really know what the "token" referred to in the lua file is or how to "re-authorise" or indeed why it has only just started doing this. Anyone got any ideas as to what is going on? Or is it something silly and I'm just being thick?

It sounds like the Reactor “speed boost” personal access token that @SecondMan registered on the Reactor GitLab repo needs to be refreshed. This token ID allowed higher download rates with concurrent connections. My guess is the token was generated with a 1 year lifespan back in April 2025 so it has finally expired this week. An updated token is possibly in order or a migration.

See this comment of yours from just over a year ago for more details:
Re: 🔥 Reactor SPEED Boost Guide 🔥

The lazy option to get back to work quickly is to remove the Reactor:/System/Reactor.cfg file. Then re-open Reactor. Presto. Token preference removed.

Another option is to go to the Reactor > Open Reactor… menu section, but use the other Open Reactor related menu item that is just beneath it… That will work nicely. Very nicely indeed. For a NAB 2026 time period that is a serendipitous like coincidence. 😁

Ah yes - now I remember installing your speed up utility almost exactly a year ago, and Secondman providing a token to save people working through all the GIT stuff. I just checked and the token he provided in this thread:

Re: 🔥 Reactor SPEED Boost Guide 🔥

in the file called "reactor.cfga" is the same as it was back in April 2025 and still matches the one I still have in my local reactor.cfg file. I don't really know what "refresh" means - is this something that Secondman needs to do or is it at my end? I didn't realize that these things could expire when I installed it - does this mean this will happen every year at this time? Ta again.

Andrew - you said -

"Another option is to go to the Reactor > Open Reactor… menu section, but use the other Open Reactor related menu item that is just beneath it… That will work nicely. Very nicely indeed. For a NAB 2026 time period that is a serendipitous like coincidence."

If go to "Reactor > Open Reactor" ... menu section, the menus I see below are Tools, Resources, Reactor Preferences and About Reactor but no "other Open Reactor related menu" item, unless I'm being thick again. There is a "resync repository" subitem under tools - is that what you mean?

If go to "Reactor > Open Reactor" ... menu section

What you see there really comes down to the era when the Reactor installer added the Reactor.fu menu item to your workstation. If you look in the Fusion “Scripts > Reactor > “ menu area you might see the other option I was describing if you had last synced Reactor in the preceding few months. It was mostly a humorous and slightly coy nod of the hat to a side project that will hopefully bare dividends later for the WSL community.

@SecondMan deputized me with new Reactor GitLab tokenID creation abilities so I should have that taken care of in the next 45 minutes and the details synced on the original Reactor speed boost thread. Your bug report helped figure out the root issue. Thanks!

That's also on me - I had no idea you didn't have those.

I wonder who set that up.

I went to scripts and there was indeed the other option to Open Reactor but unfortunately it returns the same error and doesn't open either. Oh well, I'm not in any urgent need to get it working at the moment and if anything comes up that requires it I can always disable the speed thing as you suggest and/or use another of my systems - I seem to recall only installing the speed up on this one system. So no biggie, I'll wait and see what Secondman comes up with for now. Thanks again for the help, as always!
